FRENCH PRONUNCIATION GUIDE TO LEARN THE CORRECT PRONUNCIATION 

Pronunciation guide


A - The letter a is pronounced as A in Star.

E - The letter E is pronounced as E in Service.

Γ‰ -  The Γ‰ is pronounced as A in rate.

I - The I is pronounced as I in machine.

O  - The O is pronounced O as in obey.

U  - Round your lips as if to say D. but say EE.

AU, EAU   are pronounced O as in obey.
OU

0U   is pronounced 00 as in cool.

OI  is pronounced as WA as in wasp.

QUE  is pronounced as the CU in curve.

QUI is pronounced KEE.

IN, IM, AIN, AIM are pronounced A as in bank.

AN, AM, EN. EM, ANT, ENT are pronounced A as in wand.

C is k before A. O. U and consonants.

C  is S before E, I

CH is SH.

G before A, O, U, is hard as in get.

G before I,  E is pronounced S as in measure.

H - The H is always silent.

S - is pronounced Z when it appears between vowels.

Otherwise it is S.

SS is S.

As a rule, final consonants are silent.
